The Electronic Commerce Branch is responsible for encouraging the development and adoption of e-business in Canada.

We accomplish this through three main lines of business:

Policy Development and Harmonization
Our work helps to establish an orderly domestic and international marketplace and provides a favourable legal and regulatory environment for e-commerce.

Research and Analysis
The Electronic Commerce Branch works in close collaboration with private sector partners, academic researchers, Statistics Canada, and international organizations, among others, to better understand the economic, business and social impact of the digital economy.

Broadband Canada: Connecting Rural Canadians
The Broadband Program strives to make broadband service available to as many unserved and underserved households as possible.
