Industry Canada informed Transport Canada in Quebec Region (FSS Montral) that many RadioTowers fed by generators are not always properly lighted for air navigation.

Many broadcast stations, CHCH-TV-11 Ottawa, CBC Thetford Mines Qu., Lac Megantic Que, d'Israeli Qu. and Coleraine Qu. are in difficulty or are transmitting on low power. The coverage areas are therefore reduced.

A crisis center was opened by Industry Canada in Montreal on Monday 12 January to assure essential service to the population regarding spectrum management and interference problems, especially for emergency crews. Many service lines are automatically re-routed to our Quebec City District Office.

Requests were made to our Quebec Regional Center for an MSAT Terminal equipped with STU-III telephone. A supplier was found in the Ottawa region with 11 stations.
