Keith Montgomery Appointed to the Competition Tribunal

OTTAWA, November 6, 2009 — The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Competition Tribunal, today announced the appointment of Keith Montgomery as a lay member of the Tribunal.

"I am very pleased to welcome Mr. Montgomery to the Tribunal. He has significant experience in the financial industry that will benefit the Tribunal in its work going forward," said Minister Clement.

The Competition Tribunal is a specialized tribunal that combines expertise in economics and business with legal expertise. It is composed of judicial and non-judicial, or lay, members. The Tribunal is a strictly adjudicative body that operates independently of any government department.
