Discussion Paper Number 12, The Irish Economic Boom: Facts, Causes and Lessons, May 2002

This paper examines Ireland's phenomenal economic boom in the 1990s. It reviews Ireland's economic success in the 1990s, both the overall growth and long-term productivity performance, as well as short-term employment record; and tries to determine the factors behind the long-term productivity boom and the short-term employment boom. This study also offers policy suggestions to Canada for achieving similar economic success to that of Ireland.
