This is the first in a series of five Emergency Telecommunications Fact Sheets for the Regulatory Policy and Planning directorate of the Radiocommunications and Broadcasting Regulatory Branch within the Spectrum, Information Technologies and Telecommunications Sector of Industry Canada. The Emergency Telecommunications fact sheet explains why telecommunications is important, who the groups are within Industry Canada working on telecommunications initiatives, and explains how they do their work. It also gives a general overview of the specific programs and initiatives available within the Department. These initiatives provide services and assistance to Canadians, while protecting and securing telecommunications in the country.
