Conducted by Macdonald & Associates Limited, the report Finding the Key: Canadian Institutional Investors and Private Equity presents an assessment of current awareness, attitudes, policies and decision-making culture of Canadian and American institutional fund managers as regards venture capital and other kinds of private equity as a viable asset class in a modern portfolio. The report also identifies specific barriers to market participation, as well as potential motivators to overcome these barriers, in the current environment. With this report, we hope to stimulate a process of broad-based discussion in Canada about the role of institutional investors—pensions, insurance companies, endowments, foundations and other investment funds—in venture capital and other types of private equity.
