There are six major aboriginal cultural regions with respect to intangible property in Canada:
- The northern most region is located in Arctic Circle and includes Inuvialuit, Nunavut, Nunivik and Nunatsiavut.
- The Subarctic region represents the largest area in Canada. This region spans from the Northwest Territories through to the northern area of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec and Labrador.
- Along the coast of British Columbia and the Yukon rests the Northwest Coast region.
- The Plateau region is situated in the interior of British Columbia and extends toward Alberta.
- The Plains region covers central Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba and borders along the United States.
- The Northeast region is located in Ontario above Lake Michigan and crosses southern region of Ontario, southern Quebec and the Maritime provinces (not including Labrador.)
