Canada as a Science and Technology Leader

In May 2007, the Government of Canada released its Science and Technology (S&T) Strategy: Mobilizing Science and Technology to Canada's Advantage.

The Strategy focuses on creating a business environment that encourages private sector innovation while ensuring that public funds are invested wisely. It builds on Canada's science and technology strengths to address challenges like health, the environment, and the competitive use of natural resources. The Strategy also recognizes the important role that the private sector and others play in Canada.

The Strategic Aerospace and Defence Initiative is an important part of the S&T Strategy. The Initiative represents a new approach to supporting research and development excellence and fostering partnerships in Canada's aerospace, defence, security, and space industries.
