1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this bulletin is to clarify the use of aluminum-capped mass standards as local standards for inspecting devices.
2.0 Background
Mass standards using aluminum caps to seal the calibration chamber are becoming increasingly common and are accepted in other metrological jurisdictions.
3.0 Application
Measeurement Canada will evaluate aluminum capped mass standards, of a nominal capacity from 100 g to 10 kg (4 ounces to 20 pounds), for use as local standards if they are constructed as per the requirements in the Measurement Canada Mass Calibrations Manual, section Field RP-01 (2.4) and/or International Recommendation OIML R111.
4.0 Revision
The purpose of this revision is to simplify the requirements regarding the Use of Aluminum Capped Mass Standards (PBRI2008).
