Joint Working Group on Electricity Sector Sampling Plans, and Measurement Uncertainty

Upon completion of the Natural Gas Sector Sampling Plans Project, a new joint workgroup (JWG) was formed in January 2007 to address the application of statistical sampling and measurement uncertainty to electronic electricity meters. The Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) was involved in this review. Numerous meetings and discussions have been held since that time, and the JWG reached unanimous consensus on a proposed new acceptance-sampling plan. Deliverables included the development and publication of various specification documents, implementation guide, implementation policy schedule, and model procedures.

The Electricity Sector Sampling Plans Measurement Uncertainty JWG was comprised of a balanced representation from utilities and MC personnel. The MC contact is Henry Telfser, Program Officer, Statistical Methods, Program Development Directorate.
