Information Bulletin — Replacement Information and Information Plates

2010-01-28

This message is intended to advise all those who inspect or repair weighing and measuring devices that Measurement Canada has issued the new general bulletin, Gen-39 - Replacement Information and Information Plates, which will become effective April 01, 2010.

The new bulletin was developed to address consistency in the actions to be taken when Measurement Canada inspectors and authorized service providers find devices that are installed for use in trade with missing serial plates and where required markings or other required information is no longer distinguishable. In addition, Gen-39 provides specific guidance to all service personnel who become engaged in the replacement of information plates or information on a plate as a result of weighing and measuring devices that are found in non-compliance of marking requirements under the Weights and Measures Act.

Measurement Canada is pleased to present this bulletin which was developed in consideration of comments and suggestions received from interested stakeholders during consultations in 2009.
