Part 3, section 14—Performance—backlash test

Application

This test is performed on dispensers and refuellers only.

Purpose

Quick repetitive starting and stopping of product flow is a normal procedure in topping up a vehicle's fuel tank. This test determines if excessive backlash in the system will affect the delivered volume of product.

Procedure

Run a fast flow test and determine the accuracy of the meter.

Repeat the fast flow test, stopping and starting the product flow quickly, approximately five times.

Interpretation of results

The second delivery must not be outside the limits of error.
