Under the provisions of subsection 9(2) of the Electricity and Gas Inspection Act, the President of Measurement Canada has received a request to grant a temporary dispensation from meter reverification. In consideration of this request, interested parties may make representation with regard to the following information, as provided by the applicant:

Reason for Request
Medicine Hat Electric Utility is seeking temporary dispensation to assist in mass deployment of smart meters within time lines set by the Province of Alberta.
Proposed Meter Performance Assurance Program
Medicine Hat Electric Utility has submitted an application for temporary permission from verification and sealing of electricity meter due in 2012 - 2013, which addresses the following criteria:
- ensures that the integrity and accuracy of electricity meters are maintained;
- provides objective evidence to support a decision to keep electricity meters in service without reverifying the subject meter types, models and/or groups of meters; and,
- provides a plan that will include conditions to mitigate the risk of inaccurate meters remaining in service.

Interested parties may submit representations with regard to this temporary dispensation request until September 30, 2011.
