Re: Publication of New Requirements for Wireless Device Testing Laboratories Documents
Notice is hereby given that Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) is releasing the following documents:
- Decision, New Requirements for Wireless Device Testing Laboratories, announces changes to the requirements for wireless device testing laboratories, resulting from the consultation process SMSE-011-17, Consultation on New Requirements for Wireless Device Testing Laboratories;
- REC-AB, Issue 1, Procedure for the Recognition of Accreditation Bodies for Non-MRA Countries, describes the criteria and procedure for recognition of accreditation bodies by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) in order for the accreditation bodies to accredit testing laboratories and perform accreditation services in countries where Canada has no Mutual Recognition Agreement/Arrangements (MRA) on Conformity Assessment;
- REC-LAB, Issue 6, Procedure for the Recognition of Foreign Testing Laboratories, describes the criteria and procedure for recognition by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada of foreign testing laboratories to test to Canadian requirements for telecommunications terminal equipment, radio apparatus and broadcasting equipment standards;
- DES-LAB, Issue 7, Procedure for the Designation and Recognition of Canadian Testing Laboratories, specifies the procedure for Canadian testing laboratories to be: a) recognized by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) to test to Canadian requirements for telecommunications terminal equipment, radio apparatus and broadcasting to ISED's specifications and standards and b) designated by ISED to test telecommunications equipment, information technology equipment and radio apparatus (including testing for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)), as applicable under the terms of the relevant Mutual Recognition Agreements/Arrangements (MRAs), to the requirements of foreign regulatory authorities;
- CB-02, Issue 8, Recognition Criteria and Administrative and Operational Requirements Applicable to Certification Bodies (CBs) for the Certification of Radio Apparatus, specifies the requirements applicable to the recognition of Canadian and foreign certification bodies (CBs) under the terms of Mutual Recognition Agreements/Arrangements (MRAs);
- RSS-GEN, Issue 4 (Amendment 1), General Requirements for Compliance of Radio Apparatus, sets out the general requirements for radio apparatus used for radiocommunication other than broadcasting; and
- Testing Laboratory Technical Assessment Checklist, Checklist.
General information
After March 15, 2019, Certification Bodies must accept test reports only from testing laboratories recognized by ISED.
The Radio Equipment Standards list will be amended accordingly.
