Nuclear Waste Management Organization
The Nuclear Waste Management Organization was established to recommend a long-term approach to managing used nuclear fuel, produced by Canada's electricity generators. Our three-year study engaged interested Canadians, stakeholders and specialists to develop a recommendation that safeguards the public, in a way that is sustainable, ethically and socially acceptable, as well as respectful of the environment now and in the future. On June 14, 2007, the Government of Canada selected our recommended approach — Adaptive Phased Management. We move toward a goal Canadians have themselves identified: safe and secure long-term storage of the used nuclear fuel we produce, and the flexibility for future generations to act in their own best interests. We are now tasked with implementing the Adaptive Phased Management.

Organization of CANDU Industries
The Organization of CANDU Industries exists to promote a healthy nuclear power industry in Canada for the benefit of their members. Our membership consists of over 100 companies located primarily in Ontario, but also in Quebec, New Brunswick and British Columbia. It consists of almost equal numbers of large, medium and small organizations, employing some 7 000 people who supply numerous goods and services for the CANDU nuclear market in Canada and abroad. Many companies also supply to other nuclear markets that use Light Water Reactor (LWR) and Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) technologies. We promote the nuclear industry in Canada through a number of activities during the year, such as supplier days, seminars, trade shows, media liaison, public and government liaison, and interaction with the nuclear utilities, designers, regulators and many other industry stakeholders. We also interact with McMaster, University of Ontario Instutute of Technology, École Polytechnique and Univer-sity of New Brunswick to provide a bursary award to students each year.
