Sharing economy: the Canadian perspective
Option consommateurs (OC) will study the sharing economy in the context of Canada's legal framework. The project will explain the perception and knowledge consumers have of their rights and obligations relating to the sharing economy. By analyzing research on the sharing economy, as well as conducting interviews and Canadian-wide surveys on the subject, Options consommateurs will offer timely, reliable information about the rights and interests of Canadian consumers who use product service systems.
Banking fees and low-income individuals: an overview of the situation
Option consommateurs (OC) will research the knowledge and attitudes of low-income households, which hold a chequing account, about various banking fees and services. The study will establish if vulnerable Canadian consumers can readily access and understand banking fee information both online and in their local branch. Better understanding the financial literacy needs of this demographic will help provide them with the appropriate tools to make smart banking decisions.
Class action: How to increase the individual claim rate?
In Canada, no law requires the production of public reports on claims related to the payment of individual compensation. Research by Option consommateurs (OC) will include information retrieval and analysis of the legal framework, in Canada and relevant jurisdictions, to clarify issues in this area. They will identify the variables in class action distribution protocols and analyze their impact on claim rates.
