Analysis of Regulatory Compliance Costs: Part II – Paperwork time burden, costs of paperwork compliance and paperwork simplification
Published using data from the 2005 and 2008 Statistics Canada Survey of Regulatory Compliance Costs, this paper examines several aspects of red tape and sheds new light on elements such as paperwork time burden, productivity drag, total and average compliance costs, and paperwork simplification. The findings should help policy makers gain a clearer understanding of the magnitude of the paperwork burden imposed on businesses and prove useful for developing meaningful reduction initiatives.
