Philosophy of Care:
Curiosity is the place where learning starts. It is children's interest in exploring the imaginary and the real that drives their need to play and to learn.
Create a mystique for each group so that children who join feel they are beginning an adventure.
Share information. Use billboards and follow-up calls to keep parents abreast of what is happening. Share ideas about training opportunities, new courses and theories with your colleagues.
Exemplary Practices:
Nicknamed the four-year-old group "the Explorers" (les Explorateurs) and filled the promise the name suggests. Some of the group's explorations include:
- collecting and drying wildflowers
- planting a garden
- learning basic yoga and tai chi
- visiting a veterinary clinic, an animal groomer, the museum of civilization and a maze.
Introduced a problem-solving course for young children (Je peux résoudre des problèmes). Michaud took the courses, which were originally developed in English in the United States, and consulted with academics who adapted the program for use in Quebec to prepare herself to lead the program.
