Philosophy of care
Running a traditional centre with the dual role of a learning environment for post-secondary students from a variety of disciplines can get overwhelming, but Lamarre always keeps children at the centre of her play-based approach.
Support of child development
- Lamarre ensures that each child's progress is mapped using the Ontario Early Learning for Every Child Today guide to pedagogy and curriculum in early learning.
- Lamarre ensures that educators have time to document each child's learning. They post documentation panels in the centre which chronicle photos and written documentation.
Involvement with parents, families and the community
- Lamarre carefully schedules workshops for parents on a variety of topics related to parenting and will make them available online at the end of the semester.
- Ensuring a constant flow of information between educators and families is key to success at the Algonquin College Early Learning Centre. This relationship is complimented by a child observation log.
Lisa was able to meet my child's special needs and address every concern I had as a parent. (…) She worked with our family and found innovative solutions when our son needed a different care arrangement.
One of Lisa's initiatives that had an enormous impact on our family, and showcased Lisa's commitment to innovation in early childhood education, was her creation of a full-day integrated kindergarten program with the public school board. (…) It was an exceptional program that ought to be the model for all early childhood education.
