Daniel McKiel
Daniel McKiel of Kennebecasis Valley High School in Rothsay, New Brunswick, regularly comes up with new activities to make high school physics more lively and interesting for his students. He works to get his students to understand that uncertainty is nothing to fear and is, in fact, what drives science and scientists. Grasping this idea allows the students to take responsibility for their learning and takes the emphasis off the teacher. For example, he created a Science Road Show in which high school students in the enrichment program prepared hands-on activities that they did with students in 11 area elementary schools.
