Conceived, created and maintains the Flat Stanley Project, a website designed to develop literacy among primary school students:
- children make "Flat Stanleys" - paper versions of a boy who is squashed flat in a children's story of the same name - and mail them around the world
- recipients keep a journal of Flat Stanley's journey and adventure, and then mail it back
- currently more than 900 classes participate in the project
- program has extensive curriculum applications in writing, social studies and math, among other subjects, integrates technology with the curriculum, connects students around the world, and is interesting and motivating for both teachers and students
- students excel: class average on provincial assessments is higher than local board and provincial averages in all subjects.
Energetic contributor to school activities:
- coaches basketball, volleyball and track and field
- plays guitar and sings at assemblies and concerts
- acts as a computer resource: facilitated implementation of new report cards
- originated and organizes annual walk for ALS research, and is founding member of the Wilfrid Jury Peace Garden Committee, working with parents and students to plan, build and maintain flower gardens near the kindergarten area of the school.
