- Students learn in various ways. Sometimes it takes a multiplicity of Teaching Approaches before an idea really takes hold in a student's mind.
- Encourage students to use the school's voluntary requirements as a way to gain experience with community and political activities.
- Transformed ordinary writing assignments by requiring students to write a polished, well-argued letter to an elected official.
- Established an election volunteerism project as part the social sciences curriculum. All students volunteer during an election campaign. The students are involved in the campaign from beginning to end, taking part in such activities as phone polling, sign placement, door-to-door campaigning and clerical work. Classroom discussions focus on party positions, strategy and possibilities of victory.
