Teaching Approach

  • Every year, is in charge of the Esplamago project, in which students, parents, teachers, partners in the arts and community leaders join together to produce a large-scale musical comedy. It is a holistic project that touches on the personal, emotional, social and intellectual aspects of learning, as well as the cultural dimension. By applying the principle of destreaming, the project brings together students from three elementary schools, and includes children from special education programs.

Outstanding Achievements

  • In charge of this project since it began 12 years ago. Each musical comedy reflects a different theme. Students play all the roles, both on stage and in the wings. One of the places where the final product is staged is in the performance hall at the Musée de la civilisation de Québec, with well-known author/composer/performer Bruno Pelletier as its patron. There's no mistaking the public's enthusiasm, as witnessed by the number of sell-outs. Over the years, teachers have seen a tangible improvement in the academic motivation of students who take part in this adventure.

"I can tell you that all the knowledge and experience I gained [from participating] in this project have stood me in good stead in many ways, and that when I get a job I will definitely still be able to use everything I learned over the years I took part in Esplamago." Former Student

"Even more than his enormous creativity and innate showmanship, it is [Luc's] humanitarian qualities that make him stand out." Colleague
