Competition Bureau FIP Signature
In recognition of its unique role, the Competition Bureau uses its own FIP signature.
The Competition Bureau FIP signature consists of the flag symbol and the words "Competition Bureau" and "Bureau de la concurrence," as shown below. In most applications, the Competition Bureau FIP signature is set in medium-weight Helvetica (Helvetica Neue 65), with the text appearing to the right of the flag symbol, as shown below. On stationery, however, the text appears in light-weight Helvetica (Helvetica Neue 45).
Use of the Competition Bureau FIP signature on promotional items (e.g. pens, pins, T-shirts and mugs) is discretionary, since these items are not covered by FIP policy.
The design of the Competition Bureau FIP signature is unique. Do not alter it in any way. Only reproduce it from the electronic artwork files available from Communications and Marketing Branch.
For appropriate uses of the Competition Bureau FIP signature, see Procedures.
Language Variations
Always present the Competition Bureau FIP signature in bilingual format, with "Competition Bureau" and "Bureau de la concurrence" appearing side by side to the right of the flag symbol. Use the English-first or French-first variations of the Competition Bureau FIP signature for English- or French-language publications or for bilingual publications, as appropriate.
Colour Applications
The Competition Bureau FIP signature may be presented in the following colour variations.
Two colours. The flag symbol appears in FIP red. The letters appear in black on items with white or light backgrounds, or in reverse white on items with black or dark backgrounds. FIP red may be reproduced using Pantone 185 (a four-colour process mix of 91 percent magenta and 76 percent yellow) or Pantone 032 (a four-colour process mix of 91 percent magenta and 87 percent yellow). The RGB (red-green-blue) value for FIP red is 255-0-0, and the hexadecimal value is #FF0000.
One colour. The flag symbol and letters both appear in the same colour. Use a dark colour on items with white or light backgrounds to ensure sufficient contrast. Set the signature in reverse white on items with black or dark backgrounds, as long as there is sufficient contrast.
