Making your publication available to the public
Why do we write publications if not to have the targeted audience read it? Makes sense no?
Here are the steps to follow to help you make your publication accessible to the public.
(These steps are meant for Industry Canada publishers and apply only to publications aimed at external audiences)
1. Acquire Government of Canada (GC) numbers
Form 1 – Application for ISBN and Catalogue numbers
(for single [monograph] publications and publication series)
Form 2 –
Application for ISSN
(for serial publication)
Note: Government publications destined to the public (print or PDF) require GC numbers.
These numbers must appear inside the publication on the copyright page.
2. Register your publication once it is near completion
Form 3 – IC Publication Registration
Note: Your publication will automatically be available online on the
IC Publications page
and at Publications.gc.ca.
3. Distribute your printed copies (if applicable)
4. Quick reference
5. Need assistance?
