Industry Canada is actively involved in the Telecommunication Standards Advisory Council of Canada (TSACC) and participates in the Global Standards Collaboration (GSC) where planning on standards development is discussed in very general terms at the global level. The Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) is an active participant in TSACC activity.
Emergency Telecommunications
In Canada, the Emergency Telecommunications section within the federal Department of Industry Canada, is the lead agency for emergency telecommunications under crisis conditions. General Information
This page provides information about telecommunications policy in Canada. This includes: relevant legislation (laws) and policy statements; information and statistics on the telecommunications industry in Canada; petitions of CRTC Decisions to the Governor in Council; and international organizations and agreements. Policies include spectrum-related statements and consultations, the Convergence Policy and Direct-to-Home Satellite Broadcasting, as well as Internet issues.
International Activities — Telecommunications
Industry Canada, in partnership with Canadian industry, develops, coordinates and represents Canadian telecommunications and trade policies, strategies and interests abroad in treaty-based organizations, multilateral fora as well as bilaterally with key trading partners. This site offers information on various topics such as International telecommunications and Internet policy, strategy and coordination, International Agreements and regulatory developments. The department also participates in numerous international committees, collaborates with associations and Government/Industry consultative committees.

This page provides access to the Telecommunications Act, the Radiocommunication Act, the Broadcasting Act and to other related legislation (laws) which may have an impact on telecommunications in Canada.
Petitions to the Governor in Council
Under section 12 of the Telecommunications Act, a petition may be filed with the Governor in Council requesting that the Governor in Council vary or rescind a CRTC decision or refer it back to the CRTC for reconsideration. This page provides information on petitions of CRTC decisions to the Governor in Council filed since 1998, including current petitions (if any). For each petition, a copy of the petition, the Gazette Notice(s) published, submissions received and the outcome are all available on this page.

Radio Equipment Certification and Terminal Equipment Registration
