Notice No. SMSE-003-97
On January 10, 1997, a Mutual Recognition Arrangement was signed between Canada and the Republic of Korea. The main purpose of this arrangement is to facilitate trade in telecommunications, radio and information technology equipment. This arrangement to be implemented by Industry Canada for the government of Canada and the Ministry of Information and Communication for the Republic of Korea specifies that each country will accept test results from approved test facilities of the other country. The approval of test facilities of one country will be performed by the regulator of the other country based on regulations and procedures of that country.
To facilitate the implementation of this arrangement, each country will sponsor one seminar concerning technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures for telecommunications, radio and information technology equipment. The seminar given by Korean officials and representatives will take place in Canada in the spring 1997.
Industry Canada will recommend to the Korean authority a list of Canadian testing facilities interested in being approved to test equipment for conformity to Korean requirements.
Parties interested in attending the seminar on Korean regulations and conformity assessment procedures or Canadian testing facilities interested in being approved by the Korean authority should provide their coordinates including a facsimile number and an Internet e-mail address to:
Mr. Andrew Kwan
Directorate Standards and Interconnection
300 Slater Street
by facsimile at 613-957-8845
or at the Internet address email@example.com.
Interested parties will be notified directly of the exact date and location of the seminar and the process to be followed to qualify as a Korean approved test facility. All comments or questions can be addressed to Mr. Andrew Kwan at the address above.
Dated at Ottawa, this 1st day of March 1997.
