Notice No. DGRB-008-97 Licensing Radiocommunication Systems Using Fm Subsidiary Communication Multiplex Operation (FM/SCMO) Or Digital Radio Broadcasting (DRB) Installations (CPC-2-1-03)

The purpose of this notice is to announce that Industry Canada has released a Client Procedures Circular entitled Licensing Radiocommunication Systems Using FM Subsidiary Communication Multiplex Operation (FM/SCMO) or Digital Radio Broadcasting (DRB) Installations.

In Canada Gazette Notice DGTP-007-97, dated September 27, 1997, Industry Canada announced the release of a Spectrum Utilization Policy entitled Spectrum Policy Provisions to Permit the Use of Digital Radio Broadcasting Installations to Provide Non-Broadcasting Services. This document states that the use of DRB transmission capacity or the use of FM/SCMO transmission capacity to provide non-broadcasting services which are not related to the broadcasting program, such as radio paging, radiolocation and alphanumeric data transmission, is permitted provided that the services are authorized under the Radiocommunication Act and Radiocommunication Regulations and are subject to the applicable authorization fee and to any requirements under the Telecommunications Act. The above-mentioned Client Procedures Circular deals with licensing submissions and fees.
