Notice No. DGRB-003-98 – Consultation on the 24 and 38 GHz Frequency Bands: Proposed Policy and Licensing Procedures

The purpose of this Notice is to invite public comments on the document entitled Consultation on the 24 and 38 GHz Frequency Bands: Proposed Policy and Licensing Procedures.

On June 1, 1998, John Manley, Minister of Industry, announced that he would be making available new wireless broadband spectrum at 24 GHz and 38 GHz to accommodate the increased demand for high speed local access infrastructure.

Industry Canada invites comments from interested parties on the Consultation on the 24 and 38 GHz Frequency Bands: Proposed Policy and Licensing Procedures paper with regard to all issues related to the licensing of these spectrum bands. It is available electronically via the Internet at the following address: World Wide Web (WWW) http://www.ic.gc.ca/spectrum or in hard copy, for a fee, from:

Respondents are strongly encouraged to provide their comments in electronic format (WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF or ASCII TXT) to facilitate posting on the Department's web site. Documents submitted via electronic media should be sent with a note specifying the software, version number and operating system used. All submissions should cite Canada Gazette Notice reference number DGRB-003-98.

Comments submitted should be prefaced by the statement "Comments in response to the consultation on 24 GHz and 38 GHz".

Shortly after the close of the comment period, all comments received will be available in hard copy, for a fee, from:

Reply comments on these initial submissions will then be invited.
