Notice No. SMSE-001-99

  1. Notice is hereby given that Industry Canada is releasing the following equipment standards document:

Radio Standards Specification 212 (RSS-212), Issue 1 (Provisional), Test Facilities and Test Methods for Radio Equipment.

This new RSS consolidates, in a single document, the general test methods specified in various RSSs.

  2. Notice is also hereby given that Industry Canada is amending the Radio Standards Specification 182 (RSS-182), Issue 2, Marine Radio Telephones, Frequency or Phase Modulated operating in the 156-162.5 MHz band to:

    3. Spectrum masks, temperature and supply voltage ranges, and test methods have been amended to take into account modern practices.
    4. Systems using narrower channel spacings than 25 kHz, or modulation techniques other than FM, will be permitted provided that the radio equipment is able to inter-operate with the current standard FM channels of 25 kHz spacings (the International Maritime Organization standard).
  3. Notice is also hereby given that Industry Canada is amending the Radio Equipment Technical Standards Lists to reflect the addition of RSS-212 and the amendment of RSS-182. Excerpts of the revised Radio Equipment Standards Lists are as follows:
