Notice No. SMSE-009-00 — Procedure for the Recognition by Industry Canada of Designated Foreign Testing Laboratories

Notice is hereby given that Industry Canada is releasing the Procedure for the Recognition by Industry Canada of Designated Foreign Testing Laboratories. Recognition is the process by which Industry Canada accepts a designated foreign testing laboratory as competent to test to Canadian requirements. Designation is the authorization given by a foreign regulatory authority to a foreign testing laboratory or person to carry out specific testing under the terms of the telecommunications equipment sectoral annexes of Canada's Mutual Recognition Agreements/Arrangements (MRAs).

This procedure will become effective upon its publication on September 16, 2000. This procedure is intended to clarify existing processes and requirements to Canada's MRA partners.

All written comments received in response to this Notice will be available for public viewing during normal business hours at the Industry Canada Library, 3rd Floor, West Tower, 235 Queen Street, Ottawa, Ontario and at the regional offices of Industry Canada in Moncton, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver for a period of one year from the date of receipt of those comments.
