Notice No. DGRB-008-01  — Framework for Spectrum Auctions in Canada

Radiocommunication Act

The purpose of this notice is to advise all interested parties of the revision to the paper Framework for Spectrum Auctions in Canada.

The framework document was first issued in August 1998 and outlined the approach that Industry Canada would take whenever spectrum is assigned by auction. Industry Canada has since assigned spectrum licences through an auction process for the 24 and 38 GHz spectrum in November 1999, and for PCSGHz spectrum in January 2001.

In this revised paper, the Department updates the general approach that the Department expects to take for any future spectrum auctions that may be held in Canada.

The revised Framework for Spectrum Auctions in Canada is available electronically via the Internet at the following address: World Wide Web (WWW) http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/eng/home or can be obtained in hard copy, for a fee from:
