Table 2 — Calendar of events

This figure shows the calendar of events with respect to key milestone dates for the certification, licensing and policy aspects of this plan.

For certification in Phase 1, new models require 1 voice channel (vc) per 12.5 kHz beginning February 24, 1997 until Jan 1, 2005. In Phase 2, after January 1, 2005, new models require 1 vc per 6.25 kHz.

For licensing in Phase 1, new systems in congested areas must meet 1 vc per 12.5 kHz beginning the date of publication of this plan until January 1, 2005. In Phase 2, new systems in congested areas must meet 1 vc per 6.25 kHz beginning January 1, 2010.

The policy indicates that beginning on January 1, 2004, systems in congested areas not meeting the 1 vc per 12.5 kHz will be given non-standard status. In Phase 2, systems in congested areas not meeting 1 vc per 6.25 kHz will be given non-standard status beginning January 1, 2010.

The first notice to conform to Phase 1 will be served on or before January 1, 2002 to systems operating in areas of high spectrum congestion that are non-standard. The Department will also provide notice to conform to Phase 2 before January 1, 2010.
