SP 450 MHz — Spectrum Utilization Policy for the Frequency Bands 450-451 MHz and 455-456 MHz and also Part of the 150 MHz Band Used in Support of Broadcasting Operations and the Frequency Band 409-410 MH and 420-421 MHz Used by the Mobile Radio Service
Description of Figure B-1
This image shows a map of the radio quiet zone and the radio restricted zone around the Algonquin Radio astronomy Observatory. The boundary of the radio quiet zone is roughly a circle around the radio astronomy site with a radius ranging from 132 km (nearest point to the site) to 226 km (farthest point to the site in the direction of Ottawa). All radio emissions in the band 406.1-410 MHz are prohibited inside this zone. The radio restricted zone is roughly a ring with the inner boundary being the circle of the quiet zone and the outer boundary being roughly a circle around the radio astronomy site ranging from 240 km (nearest point from the radio astronomy site) to 350 km (farthest point from the radio astronomy site). In this zone, operations are restricted to a few transmitters. The south boundary of the restricted zone is limited by the Canada/US border.
