English Abstract

Described are various embodiments of a secure mobile communication system,
network
and method, and virtualized smartphone-over-data environment and system
therefor. In
some embodiments, the system allows for end-to-end encryption of subscriber
communications when communicating with other subscribers to the same mobile
subscriber network. For example, each subscriber may be provided access to a
thin client
application executable on their mobile device to exchange secure voice and/or
text
communications with other subscribers over a common mobile subscriber data
network
and via an intermediary telephony-over-data server and/or application. Such
secure
communications may be respectively encrypted on either side of the server and
application via respectively secured sessions with each subscriber's thin
client
application. In one embodiment, subscriber data associated with such
communications is
remotely stored on the server and accessible therefrom via the thin client
application.
Administrative access to the server and application also permits setting
various
administrative usage permissions/restrictions both in respect of provided
telephony-over-data
services and other Web-based services such as mobile browsing.

Note: Claims are shown in the official language in which they were submitted.

CLAIMS

What is claimed is:
1. A mobile subscriber system comprising:
a mobile data network access point;
a server accessible via said data network access point and operable to execute
a
telephony-over-data application; and
a thin client application executable on each subscriber's mobile communication

device to interface with said telephony-over-data application via respectively
encrypted
sessions so to provide secure telephony-over-data communications between
subscribers
via respective executions of said thin client application.
2. The mobile subscriber system of claim 1, wherein each of said
respectively
encrypted sessions is initiated upon subscriber authentication with the system
via said
thin client application.
3. The mobile subscriber system of claim 2, wherein an encryption key
associated
with each said respectively encrypted sessions is dynamically created for of
said sessions
as a function of a subscriber passphrase and a session identifier.
4. The mobile subscriber system of claim 3, wherein said session identifier

comprises at least one of a synchronized session time and date.
5. The mobile subscriber system of any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein said
thin client
application is further executable to interface with said telephony-over-data
application to
provide non-secure telephony-over-data communications with non-subscribers or
non-
secure subscribers, wherein an indicia as to a security status of an ongoing
communication is provided via said thin client application to identify non-
secure
communications to subscribers.

6. The mobile subscriber system of any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein said
telephony-
over-data application includes both a voice-over-data and a SMS-over-data
function.
7. The mobile subscriber system of any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein
subscriber data
associated with each of said communications is remotely stored in association
with said
server and accessible therefrom via said thin client application.
