More information on recent changes
Corporations Canada has implemented additional security measures to better protect your information. You are now required to sign in using your My ISED Account to access certain online transactions of the Online Filing Centre. My ISED Account is an additional security measure used to verify your identity.
When you use the Online Filing Centre for services that require a secure connection, you will need to log into My ISED Account to proceed. Registered intermediaries must also sign into their My ISED Account in order to access the same services that were available to them before.
Why am I required to sign in?
Corporations Canada is now using the login management application My ISED Account to identify the person filing transactions. This additional step ensures a safer management of your information.
How do I create a My ISED Account?
You can choose to create your account with GCKey or Sign-In Partner.
If you choose GCKey, sign in with your GCKey username and password. If you do not have an account, you must create one by providing a username, a password and password recovery questions.
If you choose Sign-In Partner, sign in using your online bank or participating Sign-In Partner to access the Online Filing Centre. You will temporarily go to your Sign-In Partner’s site. Once you are signed in, you will be redirected back to the service you initially selected. Your Sign-In Partner will not know which government service you are using. None of your information (for ex., financial, banking) will be shared with ISED or Corporations Canada.
To complete your My ISED Account, you will be asked to enter your personal information, including:
- first and last name
- email address
- phone number
A confirmation email will be sent to you in order to verify your email address.
What is 2-Step Verification?
2-Step Verification is a mandatory enhanced security measure that was implemented throughout our ISED sign-in services. When prompted to enroll in 2-Step Verification, users can select either option:
- authenticator application
- voice or text message
- email message
You can update your security authentication if you click on your profile name and select Security.
You will find more information on the 2-Step Verification in our Related links section below.
What are the changes to the registered intermediaries (RIs) process?
When you use the Online Filing Centre for services that require a secure connection, you will need to sign into your My ISED Account to proceed. Once you are signed in, you will have access to the same services that were available to you before. You must also continue to enter the unique corporation key of each corporation in order to file certain requests. Learn more on Being a registered intermediary.
To find out how you or your client can obtain the corporation key for a federal corporation, visit corporation key.
Registered intermediaries with Corporations Canada will receive an email advising them to complete their My ISED Account.
Once you are signed in, if you don’t have access to the RI features, contact us.
Do I need a corporation key to sign into My ISED Account?
No, you do not need a corporation key to sign into your My ISED Account.
You will need the corporation key for each individual corporation to file certain transactions with Corporations Canada. You will be prompted to enter them when necessary, so keep them handy.
Can I access some services in the Online Filing Centre without signing in?
You may access the following services without being logged into the Online Filing Centre:
- Order uncertified copies
- Get a certificate of compliance
- Get a certificate of existence
- Subscribe to email notice
- Order a corporate profile
If I use the Sign-In Partner service, will I still be able to use the GCKey credential to access the services of the Online Filing Centre?
Whenever a user logs in with a credential that is different than the first one where they had to verify their information, the system links that new login to their My ISED Account. This prevents the user from registering a second account. In other words, each user will have only one credential at a time associated to their My ISED Account, no matter what login they use.
• Upon first login, Joe uses 'Sign-In Partner' to login and then registers for his ISED Account.
• On second login, Joe decides to use GCKey to login.
• Because the system thinks Joe is a new user, he is required to fill in the first contact page of the My ISED Account registration.
• The system will identify that Joe already has an ISED Account and will take him through the process to unlink his Sign-In Partner and link GCKey to his existing ISED Account.
