The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO)’s Patent Branch would like to invite you to attend a free online presentation detailing what can be expected when designated days declared as a result of the COVID 19 outbreak, come to end.

The first designated day was March 16, 2020. The last designated day under subsection 78(1) of the Patent Act is currently July 17, 2020 and could be further extended.

The presentation will cover the following:

  • Effect of the end of designated days on due dates relating to patents and patent applications; and
  • Other deadline extension mechanisms that are available for certain situations.

During the presentation, an expert will be present on YouTube to answer your questions related to patents in the context of COVID-19.

Register now if you wish to receive a direct link before the presentation. Please note that it is not required to pre-register for this presentation.

Until then, we encourage you to continue to monitor our web page on COVID-19 and CIPO operations.
