How it works

  1. Read the program overview.
  2. Contact the Regional Economic Development Branch closest to you. They can connect you with an advisor who can help you develop your application.
  3. Create an account to complete and submit your application. You'll need to provide details such as the number of jobs you expect to create, expected outcomes and benefits, and detailed project costs.
  4. Your application will be assessed against the program objectives. You'll hear back in 2 to 4 weeks.
  5. You may be invited to submit a much more detailed stage 2 application, which would include documents such as a business plan and financials to be evaluated by an external third party due diligence service provider.
  6. Your application would then be considered by a sub-committee and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) Board.
  7. If successful, you'll sign a contribution agreement that will outline your responsibilities.
  8. NOHFC pays your grant based upon costs incurred, so be prepared to have bridge financing in place.
  9. Fulfil any reporting obligations.
