A new ultra-modern laboratory for optimal training at Collège André-Grasset

Founded in 1927, Collège André-Grasset is a private college that welcomes nearly 1,000 students each year, the majority of whom are enrolled in science programs. The Collège also offers several enriched programs in natural science, human science and science.

For many years, the institution had been planning to modernize and upgrade its facilities to offer a modern chemistry laboratory that would meet the requirements of university readiness as well as the needs of the job market.

With a total investment of $2,281,099, including $840,875 in funding from the Government of Canada through the Post-Secondary Institutions Strategic Investment Fund, Collège André-Grasset was able to start this major modernization project. First, the Collège upgraded to environmental standards, allowing it to realize substantial energy savings. The institution also undertook a major site preparation operation while awaiting the laboratory's new facilities and equipment.

The other essential step in the upgrade was the creation of a new 2,500-square-foot ultramodern laboratory, a significant step forward in the conduct of scientific experiments!

This new space is now equipped with four intelligent, high-performance energy-efficient fume hoods and a safer chemical room to store and handle hazardous materials that are very useful in the educational development of the students. As a result of these major improvements, students now have access to equipment and products that will be available on the labour market and comparable to the highest laboratory standard. This is a win-win situation for both teachers and students.
