Hi, I'm Kirsty Duncan, Canada's Minister of Science and Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities.

Welcome to the 2018 Let's Talk Science Challenge!

Let me start by saying how proud I am of all of you today.

It makes me very happy that so many of you across Canada are captivated by science.

When I was young, I was much like you: curious, excited and full of questions about the world around me.

And you know what?

I am still like that.

That need to discover new things is what makes a great scientist.

That journey to find something new can inspire us to go even further.

It can challenge us.

And excite us.

You are never bored when you're a scientist.

Today is the start of your journey and it's anyone's guess to where you will go next.

I wish you all the best of luck and lots of fun and excitement along the way.

And I want you to know …. Canada is behind you!
