The Government of Canada is pleased to announce that the Universal Broadband Fund (UBF) intake is now open. More information including the program guide, application templates, FAQs on the program is available on our website – check it out!
We are working hard to connect all Canadians to high-speed Internet as soon as possible. The UBF has been designed to connect Canadians living in rural and remote communities to high-speed Internet at speeds of at least 50/10 Mbps. The program will be funding Canadian entities to extend broadband infrastructure in areas that do not currently have access this level of high-speed Internet.
Have a new project that you could finish this year if you had some extra financial support? Does it improve service in an eligible area? You can apply to the UBF Rapid Response Stream. Check out our website for more information.
Check out our National Broadband Internet Service Availability Map to understand broadband coverage and services across Canada. Moreover, this map allows you to find out about service providers and federally funded broadband projects currently underway, and the status of connectivity on the streets and roads in your local area.
Did you know? On the National Broadband Internet Service Availability map, to see broadband coverage at the 250m road segment in your area, you simply need to zoom-in very closely on the map and select the "Rural Roads Coverage" check box of the Layer Selector option in the menu options to the left of the screen.
