Canada-U.S. regulatory cooperation Council

On February 4, 2011, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and United States President Barack Obama announced the creation of the Canada-U.S. Regulatory Cooperation Council (RCC) to better align the two countries' regulatory approaches in a number of areas, including nanotechnology. Following stakeholder consultations in Washington, D.C. in January 2012, Canada and the U.S. finalized the RCC Nanotechnology Work Plan which aims to increase regulatory transparency and coordination between both countries with respect to nanomaterials. The Nanotechnology Work Plan specifies concrete objectives, deliverables and milestones for tangible progress within the RCC 's two-year mandate.
