Archived — Competition Bureau seeks input from Canadians on its transparency initiative

OTTAWA, October 3, 2013 — As part of the Competition Bureau’s Action Plan on Transparency, announced in May 2013, the Bureau is seeking comments on its draft Information Bulletin on Communication during Inquiries that is being published today.

The draft Bulletin summarizes how and when the Bureau generally communicates during an inquiry with parties under inquiry, other stakeholders and the public, in an effort to promote transparency regarding the Bureau’s work and compliance with the Competition Act.

Through the consultation, the Bureau seeks to receive input to help identify potential areas where communication efforts during an inquiry might be improved. The Bureau welcomes all relevant input from the public.

Upon completion of the consultation, the Bureau may contact authors that provided particular comments to clarify and better understand their suggestions.

The consultation period will run from October 3, 2013 to December 2, 2013. Interested parties are invited to provide comments by e-mail, fax or regular mail no later than December 2, 2013 to:

Jeanne Pratt, A/Associate Deputy Commissioner of Competition
Competition Bureau
50 Victoria Street
Gatineau, Quebec
K1A 0C9
Fax: 819-997-3835

Responses will be posted on the Competition Bureau's website, unless it is specifically requested that they be kept confidential.

The Bureau will examine input received from the consultation and prepare a final version of the bulletin to be posted on its website.
