Competition Bureau introduces Quarterly Report, launches new portal on international activities

August 29, 2014 — OTTAWA, ON — Competition Bureau

As part of its Action Plan on Transparency, the Competition Bureau is introducing its first Quarterly Report, which presents statistics relating to a variety of intake measures, mergers and other enforcement matters, as well as advocacy, outreach and partnership initiatives. The quarterly reports are designed to provide Canadians with up-to-date information on a wide range of the Bureau’s activities in support of an innovative and competitive marketplace.

The Bureau is further enhancing transparency by launching a new web portal that provides easy access to information about its efforts to address anti‑competitive conduct that crosses borders. The new International Efforts portal features information on the Bureau’s growing collaboration with its law enforcement counterparts, as well as its participation in international organizations, including the publication of the Bureau’s submissions to the OECD Competition Committee on a variety of issues of global concern. These international efforts enhance the Bureau’s ability to promote competition in the marketplace, to the benefit of both consumers and businesses.

The Bureau's Action Plan on Transparency aims to promote the development of a more cost-effective, efficient and responsive agency, all the while providing Canadians with more opportunities to learn about its work.
