Service standards for CA Identification Number program

Draft for Public Comment

This document is a draft and should only be used for the purposes of seeking public comment (June 15 – July 30, 2015).

Service standard

A CA Identification Number, commonly referred to as "CA Number", is a five‑digit number preceded by the letters CA issued by the Competition Bureau upon request.

Only Canadian manufacturers, processors or finishers of a textile fibre product, or Canadians engaged in the business of importing or selling any textile fibre product, are allowed to register for a CA Number.

Canadian dealers are not required to have a CA Number; however, they may use it in place of their name and address on the label of consumer textile articles. Canadian dealers use this number to meet provisions of the Textile Labelling and Advertising Regulations, which require prescribed consumer textile articles to be labeled with either the full name and address of the dealer or a CA Number.

The service standards in the table below are designed to provide timely and predictable processing periods for parties who submit an application for a CA Number.
