Archived — Info-letter: All eyes on the Patent Law Treaty

From: Canadian Intellectual Property Office

The Government of Canada is modernizing Canada's intellectual property (IP) regime by joining five international IP treaties, specifically with regard to industrial designs, trademarks and patents.

Later this year, we will be acceding to the Patent Law Treaty. This treaty aims to harmonize and streamline patent administrative procedures among national IP offices. It addresses issues such as the provision of notification to avoid loss of rights, representation before the IP office and red tape reduction.

To provide you with the latest news on the implementation of the Patent Law Treaty and prepare you for upcoming changes, we will be publishing a monthly info-letter entitled "All eyes on the Patent Law Treaty". Bookmark this page to get the latest news.
