This notice is intended to provide guidance on current practice of the Office of the Registrar and interpretation of relevant legislation. However, in the event of any inconsistency between these notices and the applicable legislation, the legislation must be followed.
This practice notice replaces the practice notice entitled Requests for Expedited Examination published February 23, 2000.
Effective immediately and given that examination generally occurs within six months of the date a trademark application is filed, the Registrar will no longer consider requests for expedited examination.
