This release note is to provide advanced notice of upcoming changes to our patent XML products. The changes are expected to be integrated into these products in October 2021.
About this release:
As the Canadian Intellectual Property Office continues its efforts to improve the quality of our bulk data, we are updating our patent XML data to continue to meet the evolving ST.36 standard. Following a consultation with our business partners on this current product offering, improvements will be made how the data is organized and to include the existing translated abstracts in the disseminated data.
The benefits from these maintenances include:
- addressing missing records in the data
- ensuring that the Abstract (the original) is made available in both official languages, and
- creating consistent naming conventions and structure of folders across all our intellectual property XML format products
Details on the respective changes are found below.
