Director's liability is a major issue for organizations in Canada's Voluntary Sector. This is both because of the actual monetary risk that individuals face in joining the boards of charities and not-for-profit organizations and because the existence of this risk hampers these organizations from recruiting high calibre directors for their corporations.
In response to this growing concern, Industry Canada has developed a handbook on the responsibilities of directors of not-for-profit corporations. This user-friendly document provides valuable information in a convenient format to inform directors of not-for-profit corporations about their duties, rights and liabilities.
