This paper analyses the links between national political infrastructure and other types of investment in non-physical infrastructure such as education and the environment, on foreign direct investment (FDI) flows for 144 countries, including Canada. It uses a global model to assess FDI inflows and outflows to and from a sample of 144 developing and developed countries, including Canada. The paper also extends the model to measure the inflows of U.S. FDI to these same countries.
